A question about online poker in China

I withdrew all my money from Pokerstars when I came back to China. I have 2 questions about online poker in China.

1) I have heard that you needed a VPN to play online poker in China? But for me, I just asked my cousin in the U.S to send the pokerstars.exe file and I installed it, and I can connect to pokerstars no problem. I was wondering if I still needed a VPN to play on pokerstars even though I can connect to it. Does the Chinese government keep track of who's doing online gambling if I don't use VPN?

2) How do I transfer funds in and out of Pokerstars ? Does Pokerstars accept RMB? Also, how do I cash out in China?

To answer your Qs:
1)No. As long as you connect normally, that's fine. No government spy recources alocated in this area by far spotted.
2) It depends. You can request wire transfer to your bank account or you can use some online electrical banking system such as WEBMONEY , a russian organiaztion.
Ideally, you can have some foreign account and just cash out to those account then transfer back.
