I played poker for living for the past 1.5 years in the U.S, mostly at 2/5NL live. I quit my 21 dollars a hour job and I was making about 5k a month on average at 2/5NL. I had 2 losing months, and I felt so terrible over that period of time. It's definitely not an easy career, but I didn't really play that much, I was only playing maybe like 30hours a week. So, if you can put in alot of hours, you can definitely make a living even at as low as 2/5NL. I know a friend who plays 1/2NL for living, and he's brining about 3k a month on average, so it's doable. I could have made more money if I was more motivated and put in more hours.

I think you could become a professional player in China because the salary in China is so slow anyway. You can easily make like 5000 RMB by playing poker if you are decent. That's probably a pretty decent salary in China already. If you play a little higher, making 15000 RMB a month is well within reach.

Of course you have to have a big bankroll first that covers your expenses for like a year, so even when you are running bad, you are still going to be ok.  I mean how many people in China make over 10k RMB a month? Not many, you don't have to live in a big city, you can live in a medium size city and make 7k-10k RMB a month playing poker, which is pretty good living.
People get fired from jobs too. Nothing is for sure in this world any world. Just be happy and do whatever you want to do.

I think the usual salary for an average young man in China is around RMB3000/a month, unless you doing sales or girls who can work that innocent rules, and when you make decent money in poker you could lost interest in other things and motivation of work and realized how good you are at poker, as a high variance game sometimes it’s hard to tell if a bad player on a heater or a good one on a down swing. So for those who took shot at poker then fail they have to rebuild some basic work skills and confidence, and force to get a job to cover the expense, work in KFC and wondering what went wrong……
