Darvin Moon began to play poker when he was 12. At the time he was playing seven card stud with his grandfather. He has recounted how he would often lose to granddad, and how granddad would be upset if Moon ever had the chance to win a hand.
He found he enjoyed the competitive nature of the game, and continued to play throughout his life, but until 3 years ago, he didn’t know Texas holdem. When he began to play poker steadily it was to help raise money for local fire halls and other charities.
A short while ago he participated in a poker game with 130 dollar buy in at a local Wheeling, West Virginia Casino. At the completion of that satellite event, he won 10, 000 dollars OR a buy in to the main event. With some encouragement from his brother, he chose to play in Las Vegas. His choice to compete has proven to be an investment well worth the effort. He will take the table as the November Nine chip leader.

One thing that came out about Darvin Moon’s playing style that will make him a sure challenge is that he did not once push all in during the 8 day stretch of incredible poker competition.
In interviews he said he always started the day with a plan of play in mind, but he attributed his final table success to good cards. Regardless of the reason, this humble logger who considered investing 10 thousand into his logging business has already become a millionaire. His plans between now and the final table are to continue working. After the final table, he has mentioned spending some time visiting Alaska, and buying his dad a new pink cadillac. It is obvious that Darvin Moon, the oldest player at the table, will not be easy to push out, cards or skill.
