最近在Poker Network里看到一篇文章讲遇到下风期的对策,现全文节选如下:

“A few things I tend to do everytime I go through one of these patches..

1) Get someone you respect to review a HH of a tournament you recently went deep in. When nothing seems to go right, poker can make you feel like the game is unbeatable/you\'ve lost the ability to play. If it\'s really affecting you emotionally, you\'re probably playing worse than you were at the start of the downswing - perversely this will lengthen your downswing since you\'ve temporarily reduced your edge over the field. Having an unbiased observer review your game is probably the best thing you can do for your confidence, short of actually shipping something. Even if you find one or two things you can implement/adjust in your game, this can give you renewed vigor to go and grind. You also need to be mentally prepared/want to have someone better than you tell you that you have leaks in certain areas, accept this and then go about working on them.

Additionally, having a good support network via skype/AIM/MSN or simply by actively participating in HH discussion on forums like this can be a huge help.

2) Analyse the structure of the downswing. Your ABI is about $50, but most players are buying into a variety of tournaments above and below their ABI. If you\'re simply bricking the top end of your buyin range then your downswing will be sharp, but structurally this is less of a problem than if you\'re just not making deep runs anymore, so figure out whether this is the case.

Getting a feel for how many buyins you\'re down is useful. With due respect it looks like you ran pretty hot early, shipping some decent stuff, so you may not be as aware of how bad downswings can get compared to a player that didn\'t run as well early and has had to experience the good with the bad. If you\'re playing big fields at non-euro sites, 200+ buyin downswings are not uncommon. Obviously you don\'t brick 200 in a row - that downswing might run out over 1k games.

And with that knowledge comes the third point.

3) Play more volume. Sharkscope/OPR the MTT results of some of the winning players you know - with a few notable exceptions, most of these guys are consistently profitable simply because they\'re putting in anywhere from 50-250 MTTs per week. If you check out their graphs there\'s some fucking nasty shit in between the wins - the only difference is these guys get through downswings in a couple of weeks simply because they put their head down and play through it. Once you have renewed confidence that your downswing is within the realms of \'normal\' and/or you\'ve had your game reviewed and are now more confident your game is on track, play like a fucking madman. And definitely celebrate your wins - when I win something I schedule in a day off and get a bottle of something nice.

From what I can tell your total MTT volume is in the range of 2k games - this is certainly not a reliable sample with which to base future winning potential.

And finally..

4) Further reduce variance through buyin/field size. If you\'re used to playing only the big stuff, then this option isn\'t glamorous, but it works. Add in smaller buyin tournaments and tournaments with smaller field sizes to your schedule, and maybe drop your biggest stuff. The smaller field size and softer player sample will naturally mean you\'re going to get some wins quicker than playing a 109r or whatever. Or play the higher end of your buyin range on sites like ipoker, bwin, UB, Cake, Party..where the fields are smaller and noticeably worse than Stars/FTP.

What you choose to play is relative to your bankroll/current limits, but there are certainly many regs with ABIs of $50 that I see playing a wide mix of stuff. Some extreme examples would be guys like ICuRaRook, EeeTee2008, ramondemon77, AmirSF, gIRL90iqhdaa, Athanasios9, derek8 - some of which play 109r\'s along with tiny stuff with smaller payouts or 180 man SNGs to reduce their variance. They also make the Stars TLB race part of their motivation, which helps grinding the plebbier stuff. The Stars VIP program, p5\'s leaderboard and TripleCrown are also good motivators.

Closer to home, kennl is a great current example of someone who plays up and down the buyin scale and has put in very consistent results with a ton of volume.

Hope this helps.”
